# License and provider costs

License states, the grace period, and what your AI provider charges separately.

WP AI Manager is **one premium plugin**. There is no Pro tier. Activation and renewal are handled by Freemius from the **Account** screen in the WP AI Manager menu; **Settings > License** shows the current state.

| State                 | What happens                                                                                                                                   |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Active                | Everything works                                                                                                                               |
| Never activated | Chat shows **Activate your license**; Chat, Tasks and their REST routes are gated |
| Expired, first 7 days | A license that was valid keeps working for a 7-day grace period |
| Expired, after grace | "Your WP AI Manager license expired. AI chat, tasks and scheduled runs are paused; your history and undo still work." Use **Renew** to resume. |

A site that never activated a license gets no grace period.

## Provider costs

Your AI provider (through its WordPress AI Connector) bills you directly for model use. WP AI Manager includes no credits. To keep costs predictable:

* Use **Faster, lower cost** for quick questions and chores.
* Set **Settings > Advanced > Monthly token limit**. It is a soft ceiling: chat continues, scheduled runs skip. It shows tokens used in the last 30 days.
* Set a spending limit in your provider account too.

With no price on file, Chat shows token counts rather than an estimated cost.

Optional third-party plugins such as Elementor Pro or Gravity Forms have their own licenses. For billing or license transfers, [contact 3techagency](https://3techagency.com/contact/).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.3techagency.com/help-center/setup-and-account/license-and-provider-costs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
